Sabah Umno Secretary Datuk Haji Yahya Hussin has again express the party's strong interest for the Putatan parliamentary seat currently held by another Barisan Nasional (BN) party, UPKO.
Opening Umno branches conferences at Dewan Raya Putatan Saturday, Yahya said Umno should had been given the seat to contest in the March 8, 2008 general elections.
"We (Umno) had made known our intention to represent BN in Putatan MP seat in the last election but it went to the hand of others. They disagreed but we (Umno) worked very hard and in th end BN win the seat," he said.
Yahya, who is also Sabah Deputy Chief Minister, said Umno actually wanted its sacrifice to be recognised by other BN component parties.
He said other BN component parties should reciprocate the huge contribution by Umno Putatan but `at times our sacrifices have gone unnoticed and even our sincerity questioned.'
"Its like there is a case of `kacang lupakan kulit (one forgetting its origin) because sometiomes they question what is the Ketuanan Melayu (Malay supremacy) so we really hope that in thhe next general election, Putatan will be given to Ymno," Yahya said.

For the record UPKO's Datuk Dr Marcus Makin Mojigoh won Putatan polling 12,766 votes defeating Saukinah Yussof of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) who garnered 6,485 votes while an Independent candidate Ramzah Ahmad lost his deposit after getting only 850 votes.
This is Mojigoh's second term as Putatan MP.
With a huge majority of 6,283 votes will UPKO headed by Tan Sri Bernard Giluk Dompok `surrender' Putatan to Umno in the 13th general elections?

I think ketuanan Melayu is only relevant in Malaya, the Tanah Melayu. I think it is preposterous for anyone to introduce the idea of ketuanan in Sabah. We -- the indigenous people, the Kadazan, Bajaus, Muruts, etc -- are all tuan in this state.
Even the illegal immigrants are now eager to be called tuan, ketuanan Pendatang. Are we then able to defend our own ketuanan?
Anyway, bringing ketuanan Melayu issue in Sabah, to me, is a no-go for any parties because of the seriousness of the implication of the very phrase "ketuanan Melayu".
In the past, one doesn't get to become a tuan (master) without having a hamba (slave), hence the term "tuan hamba" (my master).
So, if there is this thing call ketuanan of a particular race, the implication is that there will also be kehambaan on the part of other races. Are we, the non-Umno people should be the hamba then?
If Umno wants to take Putatan, by all means they should fight for it. They should present intellectual arguments about why Umno should lead Putatan and why others shouldn't.
It will be wise for Umno in Sabah if they stop parroting the ketuanan issue. That's semenanjung politics. We dont need to parrot them. I'm sure Umno in Putatan is strong enough to stand on its own without having to cling to the ketuanan issue.
Kenapa nak me"layu"kan bangsa-bangsa Sabah? Bajau, Brunei, Orang Sungai, Kedayan atau mana-mana bangsa Sabah berasaskan Islam ..ADALAH BUKAN MELAYU!
Masuk akal seseorang KDM beragama Islam itu dilayukan sehingga terlayu dan menjadi MELAYU?
Ide pembangsaan bangsa KADAZAN...menyatu-padukan segala suku-kaum bumiputra bukan Islam Sabah telah dihalang secara sulit oleh para penaja keMELAYUan agar penyatu-paduan KADAZAN tidak menjadi penghalang kepada program "Melayu Raya" justeru tercapainya impian "Mecca of the East".....satu elemen yang amat mempengaruhi pemikiran Sukarno!
UMNO...terutamanya paparan oleh golongan mudanya...amat terkagum dengan unsur-unsur politik ala-Indonesia sehingga benderanya pun berkembar dengan Sang Merah Putih Indonesia! Ada keris lagi di ttengah-tengah....phewwww!
Janganlah kita rakyat Malaysia terus dibelenggu oleh unsur keagamaan dalam menjayakan pembentukan Malaysia sejati! Sebenarnya agama-agama utama dunia di waktu dahulu menyerupai parti-parti politik era kini! Tapi pemikiran kita kini seharusnya dapat membezakan ...mana salah....mana betul!
Prinsip apartheid Ketuanan Melayu jika terus diamalkan sudah pasti akan mencerai-beraikan Persekutuan Malaysia!
Kepada Yahya Hussin....siapa lupa siapa? Lupakah kamu pada budaya bangsa Bajau yang relevan dengan perjuangan Mat Salleh? Dan apakah itu bangsa Melayu kalau bukan terbentuk dari pelbagai rumpunan bangsa-bangsa yang terdapat di Jawa, Sumatera dan Sulawesi?
...dan bukankah lebih mulia jika kita orang-orang Sabah dari pelbagai bangsa dan ugama bergerak kearah pembentukan bangsa Sabah? Seharusnya kita semesti menolak corak politik Malaya yang ketara bersifatkan Racism!
Jangan biarkan bangsa-bangsa Sabah dilayukan oleh propaganda MAHU ME"LAYU"KAN ORANG KITA!
Jangan sesekali laungkan Ketuanan Melayu di bumi Sabah! Bagaimana kalau kami rakyat Sabah menuntut Ketuanan KDM atau Ketuanan Bangsa-Bangsa Asli Sabah?
Yahya Hussin...you're making the wrong move at the wrong time...the wrong suggestion in a wrong place....the wrong thinking in an already wronged Sabah in Malaysia!
