Pasok No More

Pix: Pasok's Vitos Datuk Mark Koding contested in Ranau in the March 8, 2008 election polling only 619 votes.

One of Sabah's oldest political party United Pasok Nunukragang National Organisation (PASOK) (established by Datuk G S Sundang 30 years ago) has been de-registered by the Registrar of Societies (R)C) on May 27, 2008.

The action by the ROC had been anticipated following the leadership tussle between Cleftus Mojingol and John Richard Jayasuria, who respectively claimed to be the party's President.

Due to their differences, the ROC did not allowed them to contest using their logo in the March 8, 2008 general elections, resulting their 11 candidates for State seats and three for parliament contesting as Independents.

In Pasok's political history only Ignatius Stephen Malanjum made it to the State Legislative Assembly in the 1985 State elections, only to be stripped of the YB's title after an Election Court declared his election as Moyog Assemblyman null and void.

dear jb, hello! am not sure whether my memory serves me right, but what i remember is ignatius malanjun lost his moyog yb position when pairin called a snap election in 1986. malanjun was one of half a dozen pbs assemblymen who were playing to ditch the party. if you're memory is correct, why was the election of malajun as moyog assemblyman declared null and void?

I stand to be corrected but I remembered Datuk Clarence Bongkos Malakun won his election petition that rendered Malanjum's election as null and void. Malanjum was disqualifed on nomination day.

So this meant that Malanjum was never a YB as ruled by the Election Court.

Of course, Malanjum lost when he contested in the snap election.

Since UMNO is a political force much-well established racially...then the UPKO needs to be rejuvenated with fresher revolutionary political hindsights...........

The Pasok under Ignatius Malanjun was an "irreversible failure". And political parties such as PBRS and LDP...have no "general beneficiaries"...they should be deregistered as well...to make way for the return of the Spirit of Pisompuruuan!

Better to have one unifying party in the light of the present circumstances..
There are people trying to revive USNO. This party and a few others had images that are totally unacceptable to today's sentiment.

Corection to my earlier comment: Makalun was disqualified as PBS candiate for Moyog.

Yes, Malakun.

By the way, If you see Datuk CB Malakun, you might have to be double sure who you are seeing, he could be me cos some friends said I look like him, face only not his wealth. Another face like ours is Murni Kamsrun, a PBS candidate in one of the Sandakan State seat in the 1985 election.
