31 Days Not Enough....

The 31 days in May officially allocated for the Kadazan Dusun Murut (KDM) and the farming communities in Sabah were not enough to celebrate Pesta Kaamatan (Harvest) Festival.

The month-long celebrations was launched by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman in Beaufort on May 1.

After celebrations in all districts (financed by the State Government), the festival ended at the State-Level celebrations on May 31 at Hongkod Koisaan (the headquarters of the Kadazandusuun Cultural Association (KDCA)in Penampang. It was officiated by the Head of State Tun Haji Ahmadshah Abdullah.

However, celebrations is still going on until the end of this month (June). I found a notice in the Kadazan section of a local newspaper today which stated that there will be a Kaamatan Festival in Kampung Penampang Proper on June 27 and 28.

The Kimaragang of Kota Marudu will be celebrating their State-level festival on June 7 & 8 at Pekan Tandek.

These are those listed in the notice, there are celebrations going on and I knew for a fact that several places are holding their festivals this weekend and the following weekends.

My Say:

I might be wrong but after the State-level celebrations, it is time to go back to the field, to start taking care of the paddy to have a good harvest so that the KDM (me included) will have a better celebrations come May 2009.
