MP: Revive Special Ministry for Sabah/Sarawak

Barisan Nasional (BN) Member of Parliament for Sepanggar Datuk Eric Majimbun said the Federal Government has not been giving much concentration to Sabah and Sarawak in term of development.

Majimbun, who is Deputy President of Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP), a Sabah-based BN component member, called on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdulah Ahmad Badawi to revive the Ministry of Special Affairs for Sabah and Sarawak.

He said the ministry was created when Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore together with the Federation of Malaya formed Malaysia in 1963. The ministry was later abolished and development for Sabah and Sarawak was placed under the Rural and Regional Development Ministry.

Majimbun, who was Kota Kinabalu City Native Court's chief judge before entering politics, said reviving the ministry was vital considering the size of Sarawak alone is bigger than all the States in Peninsula Malaysia put together.

My Say:

I hope Majimbun will raise this matter when the Prime Minister visit Sabah and have a special meeting with Sabah leaders in a date yet to be fixed this month.

The landslide BN achieved in Sabah and Sarawak is a blessing to the UMNO led federal government...and a blessing in disguise for Malaysia Borneons. It reveals how we were maltreated even when we pleased those "neo-masters"....or "tuan-tuan baru"! Very little attention given us by Malayan politicians of both camps when commenting on the aftermath of the last general election. Is it to them we Borneons not Malaysians...but to me, all this while our citizenship is second class! Malaysia ONLY came into being when the Borneo states agreed to be its 'equal partners' back in '63...and again 2008 we showed our loyalty to this UMNO led government (as it has had been when the British left Malaya!)....we showed the Malayans our committment toward a stable and prosperous Malaysia by denying the untested opposition parties. But to them we remain invisible...exist only on ballot papers!

I am not with BN nor any of the opposition camps...I adore politics but our political parties all this while have been like "the same piece of coin but with different appearances"...their motive is to form the government! The politicians being there aiming to be lords over the masses...WHEN THEY SHOULD BE SERVANTS! Only recently several of our "YBs" started to voice dissatisfaction regarding the reward given them for being KL's loyal stooges but barraging KL with ministerial positions is materialism...we ought to go for the spiritualism of politics and Majimbun spoke out! Let not KL reward Sabah by giving more of its MPs as federal minister...but let KL reward us by restoring our autonomous status which was pawned by con-politicians in the past! It will benefit all Sabahans irrespective of political belief, religion and race. Should KL give us back our autonomy then it will be the greatest gift from the Malayans to us...it shows our recognition as an equal partner of the federation. It was this 'autonomous status' that moved the spirit of our forefathers in agreeing to form Malaysia together with Singapore and Sarawak. If in the beginning there was no mention of 'autonomy' in the making of Malaysia...then there won't be one now! And I truly believe that having Sabah's autonomous status restored will pave the way for a more prosperous Malaysia for another 50 years! Sabahans are natural-born nationalists...to them Sabah is Heaven!

Only until a true Bangsa Malaysia is in existence...and mentioned in the Federal Constitution...that Sabahans wiil formally and proudly revoke the state's autonomy for by then the process of national integration has genuinely accomplished its mission...when the Malays, Indians, Chinese, the Orang Asli of Malaya, the Kadazans and Bajaus ,the Ibans and Melanaus have truly become one in the name of Bangsa Malaysia!

And here I need to salute SAPP's Tham for lashing Max....the new minister of science who has no science in his politics!

Let us look forward to the day when Sabahans unite after the bitter pain that aches us throughout these years by the cruel and ancient strategy of divide and rule that was applied unto us by past irresponsible UMNO leaders. God save Sabah and Her people....amen!

Nche Will

ps:...walk your walk Majimbun and talk your talk...fear no prison but hell, fear no man but God!

The problem here is when you are in the government - I mean holding government posts, you will speak less or speechless, but when you are out of government you become so brave just like opposition!

This is my experience of observations.
