OCPD: Lahad Datu Under Control

Lahad Datu town in under control, says the district police chief Supt Mohd Suhaimi Abd Rahman today. He said there was no truth in the rumours spreading that foreign elements were out to take control of the town in the East Coast of Sabah.
Supt Mohd Suhaimi was commenting on the incident in the town yesterday where a group of 12 unknown people headed by a man who claimed to be a descendant of the Sultan of Sulu staged illegal assemblies at the Lahad Datu old harbour and another near the central market.
In the 8.40am incident, the group aged between 14 and 41 years burnt several Sabah's Flag. When the police, some 80 of them from the General Operation Force and Police Anti-Riot Unit, arrived the group proceeded to the Lahad Datu Police station where they tried to enter by force.
However, all 12 were arrested and are now being detained for further investigation for organising illegal assemblies, an offence under Section 143 of the Penal Code.
Supt Mohd Suhaimi called on the public not to panic or listen to rumours as the situation in the district was under control.

The Sulu Sultanate claim on Sabah is a legally logic issue that must be resolved the soonest time possible or else it may cross our nation's path in the future.

We see trouble ahead but we remain to ignore it when "we should approach the trouble and find positive ways resolving it."

We are paying them annual rent...recorded on papers! What does that mean? Unto my humble mind...us paying them annual rent makes us Sabahans not really Malaysians.....but more of a "contract Malaysians!" It also means that Sabah's status as part of the Malaysia Federation can be disputed in a court of law, isn't it?

This issue is a potential future threat towards Malaysia. The federal government must be serious to settle the matter completely!

The validity of Malaysia may be questioned by opponents of the Federation based on three questions:
i) The definition of Federation of Malaysia in the Federal constitution is the federation that was formed in 1957
ii) The violation of the Malaysia Agreement especially the kicking out of Singapore: Malaysia is supposed to be a federation of Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore.
iii) The longstanding claim of the Philippines over Sabah
