Tuan......

Reading through the local newspapers, I came across a report in the Daily Express which touched on issues that my visitors had commented in Aki Momogun. It is reproduced here.

`Ketuanan Melayu' call may lead to BN's downfall: MP

By Chris Maskilone

KOTA KINABALU: Young leaders of Umno, particularly in Peninsula Malaysia, should stop provoking the feeling of non-Malays by insisting on the issue of `Ketuanan Melayu' (Malay Supremacy) as it may lead to the downfall of the Barisan Nasional (BN) Government.

United Pasok Momogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) Vice President and BN Member of Parliament for Putatan Datuk Dr Marcus Mojigoh said the persistence of these `young cowboys' in Umno is not the Malaysians way.

"This is not only the way to lift the Malay race to a higher pedestal but a plain and Blatant sign of arrogance that may lead to detestation by others. To me this is not the Malay culture that I know of. I never heard of this before," he said.

Speaking at a Kaamatan Festival in Kampung Duvanson, Putatan Saturday, Mojigoh said the Malays are known to be friendly and courtesous but the action of certain leaders had spoilt this image.

Toward this end, he hope Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawiwho is Umno president would advice these leaders not to be carried away and to stop acting arrogantly.

In the context of Sabah, he said there were claims of `over a million newly created Malays' a new product imported from the Philippines and Indonesia.

"Imagine (if) you have to address these illegals as `Tuan', " he said, adding that the authorities need to address the problem of illegal immigrants gaining citizenship and acquiring this Malay status throught the back door.

…between 2004 and last year only RM1.2 billion received by Sabah? Something is terribly wrong with Petronas…if not the Federal government! LET OTHER INTERNATIONAL OIL EXPLORERS VENTURE INTO SABAH…AND THEY WILL BE AMAZED BY THE LEGENDARY OCEAN OF CRUDE OIL EXISTING BENEATH THE LAND BELOW THE WIND!

RM1.2 billion…and we are still driving on hazy dust filled gravel roads…..and getting high while crossing rivers on “jambatan gantungs!” On what basis is the politics of Federalism benefit the Borneo states of Malaysia?

Even jet fighters could land on Malaya’s superbly built highways…the Penang Bridge and Petronas Tower….their social infrastructures…..DO YOU EVER WONDER SHOULD SABAH AND SARAWAK NOW CEASED TO BE PARTS OF MALAYSIA? MALAYA COULD BE CATEGORISED AS A FULLY DEVELOPED NATION!

Marcus MP of Putatan is slow! It is not “Ketuanan Melayu” that hinders Borneo Malaysians’ progress…..IT IS “KETUANAN MALAYA” that is sucking us! They divide and rule us…giving the best only to the “the few selectively chosen local feudal lords”.

Wake up and stop dreaming oi Sabahans! Think not of ourselves but the future generations…man, flora and fauna alike!

1. Sabah’s politicians lack DISCIPLINE! On my part…the tragedy of Sabah is the sole results of immatured politicians! It is true that we Sabahans should not blame the Federal government for all our grievances….BUT THE ATTITUDE OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS A MAJOR CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TOWARDS SABAH’S PRESENT STATUS AS ” THE IGNORED CHILD OF MALAYSIA!”

The late Tun Mustapha was once rumoured as having intention to establish a Sabah sultanate with him being the first sultan….and Jeffrey Kitingan was locked up as a political detainee for allegedly engineering a plot to secede Sabah from the Federation. THESE WERE THE EFFECTS OF A WRONGLY-TUNED POLITICS OF FEDERALISM AND THEY WERE SUBDUED BY THE TRADITIONAL POLITICAL STRATEGY OF DIVIDE AND RULE…WHICH ONLY AN ABSENT MINDED AUTHORITY WOULD APPLY IN TODAY’S REAL POLITIK WHERE THE ORDINARY MASSES HAVE ATTAINED EQUAL KNOWLEDGE WITH THOSE RUNNING FOR POLITICAL OFFICES!

And Syed Kechik happened to be here during late Tun’s rule not because he possessed “a maverick mind”….he was “planted !” Tun would have been his old-self…”a disciplined natural-born leader of Sabah if not for Kechiks covert mission to turn him as a moral-wreck!”

Well….I am not talking about the logical thought of secessionim here…I am TALKING ABOUT THE RIGHT OF SABAH AND ITS PEOPLE TO BE TREATED AS EQUAL PARTNERS OF THE MALAYSIAN FEDERATION! Malaya and its people must realise through proper education that we from Borneo Malaysia ” are the real decisive factors towards Malaysia’s formation back in 1963! Should our forefathers refused to sign the Malaysia Agreement back then……THERE WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN MALAYSIA!

Treat us Sabahans and Sarawakians not as 2nd class citizens….and develop our states as Malaya is being developed!

I posted this in A Rahman Dahlan's blog:

Dulu saya kehospital dan untuk rawatan saya terpaksa diambil darah melalui sedutan 'syringe' dari lengan saya. Nurse yang mengambil sample ini bertudung dan berbahasa 'Brunai'. Sambil ambil darah dia melihat catatan rekod saya sambil bertanya "kitani bangsa apa?". Dengan ringkas saya jawab,"Melayu". Jawabnya " ah, diSabah ndana Melayu". Saya terkejut tapi terpaksa sabar kerana jarum masih tercucuk dilengan saya. Selepas dia siap menarik syringe itu keluar, saya tanya dia "Dang, taliat kitani darah filipin, brunai dan murut dalam jarum atu?". SiDayang menjawab, "atutah nyangku, manada Melayu diSabah" Saudara-saudari. Benarkah tiada Melayu diSabah? Kenapakah Bumiputra kita dikelasifikasikan Bumi Muslim dan Bumi Bukan Muslim? Kalaulah dia Dusun beragama Islam, dimanakah dia meletakkan dirinya dalam politik. Kan Islam itu agama. Bukan bangsa.

Oleh itu inilah masanya kita merapatkan jurang, mengkukuhkan persamaan dan menolak perbezaan (work on the common factor and remove the differences) . All for the return of honour to Sabah for what had been agreed prior to our independence. There is no tuan in the Constitution. Special rights are granted. If there exist tuans then there must be slaves. No way can we be slaves!!!!

...sekarang Pesta Kaamatan..""TANGAN MELAMBAI-LAMBAI DALAM SETIAP TARIAN SUKU KAUM SABAH...PAKAIAN TRADISIONAL BERWARNA HITAM....GONG DAN KULINTANGAN BERBUNYI DI SANA SINI...SIGAH SI ANAK LELAKI TERSERGAM DI ATAS KEPALA!"

I'm 57 now. I was there when we were ruled by the British. At the tender age of 12 Sabah gained independent. Even before 1963, many orang Malaya were employed in the Government sector. With a few exception, many of these officers were not well liked because of their arrogance, worst than the Mat Sallehs, as I overheard our parents spoke to their friends.
Until today this attitude doesn't seem to change.
So we know now, no matter how long we have lived under one roof together in Malaysia, their attitude will never change.
Even if Pak Lah comes to Sabah soon and listen to futher grouses, implement drastic changes.. the face behind that mask will never change. They want to maintain the tuan part...
So my friends the only way for us is to rule our own state in the manner Anwar offer us in his election campaign.
BN is sinking fast.. let them
